And Nana Betty rocked it.
When Christine Quinn tied the knot in May 2015, her group of bridesmaids included two friends, one sister... and one grandma.

Elizabeth Govern — aka "Nana Betty" — may be 89 years old, but Quinn still considers her one of her best friends.
"The decision was easy given the strength of our relationship," Quinn told BuzzFeed Life. "Who doesn’t want her best friend standing beside her on her wedding day? Not to mention all of my friends love my Nana as well, so we all had a great time planning and spending time together."

While Nana Betty wasn't sure Quinn really wanted her octogenarian grandmother to join a group of bridesmaids in their twenties, Quinn reassured her that she definitely belonged in the group.
"She asked me about 10 times, 'Are you sure?' and 'Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'" Quinn told the Huffington Post. "A few times she even said, 'All of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?'"
Quinn told BuzzFeed Life that she told her grandmother she didn't have to do anything she didn't want to do (including wearing the same dress as the other gals), and that it was OK for her to change her mind later... even if she changed her mind the day of the wedding. So Nana Betty agreed to join the bridal party.

And Quinn said Nana Betty, who was married for more than 50 years to Quinn's late grandfather, more than held her own with the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Her funny commentary kept everyone laughing, plus she joined everyone on the party bus, and "danced the night away" instead of going home to rest, as she'd originally planned to.
